Sophia is an engineer, with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from University of Sci. & Tech. of China, and a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Purdue University, where she worked on developing multimodal nonlinear optical imaging methods (CARS, TPEF, SHG) to study spinal cord injury and repair with nanoparticles.

Prior to joining CRC, she did a post-doc at the department of biomedical imaging at Genentech Inc., where she innovated imaging methods for studying in vivo tumor microenvironment including multispectral MRI and photoacoustic imaging.

Sophia joined the CRC new technology development team in 2014. Her current focus is on miniaturizing wearable devices for skin measurement, and developing imaging methods for skin health evaluation.
